NYC Simple Spring Forecast

NYC Simple Spring Forecast

Good morning everyone. For my older folks out there (including myself so I can say that) think back hard and try and remember the weather during the 1980’s.

We had lots of rain and snow out in the West, a ton of severe weather in the Plains, and Memorial Weekend in the Northeast was the gateway to a beautifully warm June instead of a gloomy one. Well, if you follow the pattern, the Midwest and West are getting their 1980’s weather, and we are following suit with a really beautiful June going on. That looks to continue as much of the Tri-State area is looking mostly dry and seasonably warm. Your average temperatures in NYC for the first 2 weeks of June range from mid to upper 70’s, then low 80’s; and our 7-10 day outlook fit the bill almost perfectly.

Speaking of 1980’s weather, the focus turns to the Midwest again as more severe weather is likely to develop tonight in Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa, and Missouri. We’ll start off small in Nebraska and Kansas, with scattered severe weather popping up some time between late afternoon and late evening. As that activity strengthens and grows, it’ll basically form a large multi-directional cluster of nasty storms that’ll likely last until or after sunrise tomorrow. After that, Kansas isn’t done as we could see another nasty round of storms late overnight tomorrow. Look for vary large hail, damaging winds, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and the risk of some isolated strong tornadoes with tonight & tomorrow night’s severe weather.

We also continue to watch the tropics, where an old front will stall out and help bring tropical moisture up from the Caribbean and possibly into the Gulf of Mexico. At minimum, this setup wants to give Florida flooding rain some time between next Wednesday and Saturday; then we could see another round along the Gulf Coast. We’ll watch and see if low pressure can organize into something beyond just a tropical wave, but it’s too early to tell.

SATELLITE

Mostly sunny and warm is the name of the game today. We’ll delete the slight chance of a shower since things are looking very dry, but we will reach the mid 80’s today. Slightly above average, but we’ll categorize that as “seasonably warm”.

WEATHER RADAR

We’ll have more sunshine tomorrow with near 80/low 80’s temps, then we’ll do it again under partly sunny skies Sunday and the slight chance of a scattered showers.

storm free

Things dry out again to start your workweek, and it looks like it remains dry and seasonable into Thursday at minimum. Look for sunshine and near 80 temps throughout the period.
