NYC SNOW TODAY POSSIBLE SUPER BOWL SUNDAY SNOW NEXT
NYC SNOW TODAY POSSIBLE SUPER BOWL SUNDAY SNOW NEXT – Good morning everyone and welcome to our cheap thrill event today. As stated in previous forecasts, a clipper system is headed our way and will read snow into the area late morning/early afternoon. We are still watching how this system will unfold, but confidence is high that this system will be more energized than yesterdays and will whiten the ground.
NYC SNOW TODAY POSSIBLE SUPER BOWL SUNDAY SNOW NEXT
My final snow map is up, and the only thing that has changed is the addition of a 2-4″ band of snow north of the NYC area. This is because we had to wait and see if a wave develops as the system is leaving, and all indications point to this happening; enhancing some of the snow in higher elevations and to our northeast. New York City should see a coating to up to 2″ aside from the immediate coast, which will probably see around an inch maximum. With these types of systems, you have to wait till the last minute to see the final setup as over-running situations with waves tend to throw a surprise or two your way. This is why we saw Winter Weather Advisories pop up last minute to our north. Don’t be surprised if the demarcation lines possibly shift north or south a few miles after all is said and done.
After today’s system departs, cold air begins to move into the area, giving us below normal temps Thursday through Saturday. On Super Bowl Sunday, we watch for our next system which could possibly bring a more robust area of snow into the area, but we have a long way to go as far as seeing what role the jet streams play in terms of energizing this system. I’m just reiterating that there is a possibility for a Super Bowl Sunday snow event out there, and I’m going to be cautious in terms of how we handle it sans hyperbole. You can see the latest discussion in terms of what kind of temperatures we’ll see after today’s system here https://www.nycweathernow.com/light-nyc-snow-expected/
You can see our clipper system heading towards us fast via the Great Lakes and Pennsylvania. We should see an inch or two in most of the NYC area, possibly higher amounts to our north and to our northeast.
Bands of snow are starting to enter the picture and should begin soon. While most of the action is going to our north, we should still be on the southern edge.
