NYC SOGGY CONFETTI NEW YEARS CELEBRATION

Good morning everyone and happy-almost New Year! For those looking to venture out into Manhattan tonight to take part in the celebration at Times Square, you better dress as the Gordon’s Fisherman if you want to stay dry and comfortable.

EASTERN SATELLITE

Things cloud quickly today after some blue early this morning. Rain moves in by mid to late afternoon and we should be in the 45-50 range during the day. It’ll be hard to tell our actual high today because temps will continue to rise as the bulk our our system approaches; probably giving is our high temp at 11:59pm tonight.

Speaking of system bulk, our biggest batch of moderate rain, possibly heavy at times, will approach just before midnight tonight and possibly linger as we start 2019. So it’s going to be a very wet one out there no matter how you slice it.

REGIONAL RADAR

We clear out tomorrow and it’ll eventually become sunny and windy. 50’s will drop through the 40’s as the day goes on, and it’ll be blustery. Don’t be surprised if wind advisories are issued as wind gusts will be in the 45-50mph realm.

Seasonable air is back for Wednesday with sunny skies and highs 35-40, then we start to take a look at our next system. What looked like we could have something on our hands for Thursday, doesn’t look very impressive this morning. That’s why it’s important to see what everything looks like when you have to get through another system first.

As of now, system path doesn’t look snow-friendly for the NYC area (again), and it doesn’t look well organized either. For the moment, we’re going to call for upper 30’s to low 40’s for Thursday with cloudy skies, then maybe some light rain overnight.

With nothing of any significance in store for Thursday or Friday, we’ll have to watch the atmosphere closely to see if the weekend will remain clear or be ruined with more rain.

Either way, there’s no bitter cold air in sight for the moment and there’s no system path that’s geared towards tapping a piece of that cold air locked up in Canada. Seasonably average to very slightly above average temps remain the story for the next couple of weeks unless anything big changes.
