NYC Spotty Showers & Muggy Today
Good morning everyone. We are socked in once again with the clouds and the usual markers for a transition day as warmer air begins to push back in. A wide swath of rain is moving just to the north of us and should stay that way, but we’ll see a few spotty showers here as well. Not much going on otherwise, but we’ll be watching for an extended fetch of moisture up and down the East Coast developing next week.
SATELLITE
Expect cloudy skies today, muggy conditions, and highs in the upper 70’s to low 80’s. As stated above, we’ll see a few spotty showers and most of them will be brief in nature.
REGIONAL RADAR
Many areas will be socked in with fog tomorrow morning, especially the coast, but we should see some breaks by late morning/early afternoon. Enough sun will propel us into a muggy mid to upper 80’s for a very warm day. We could also see a stray shower or storm.
Things dry out a bit Friday with some extra sunshine, but we still have some mid to upper 80’s sticking around.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
The forecast continues to hold for your Labor Day holiday weekend, with sunshine and near 80 temps both Saturday & Sunday; then clouds and sun Monday with the slight chance of a shower. Highs Monday in the upper 70’s to low 80’s.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
In the long range, we continue to watch for a prolonged setup of moisture running up the East Coast with the help of high pressure blocking any fronts from passing through smoothly.
As of now, we have nothing going on locally in the tropics, but old fronts can become breeding grounds for tropical activity this time of year.
MANY THANKS TO TROPICAL TIDBITS FOR THE USE OF MAPS
Please note that with regards to any tropical storms or hurricanes, should a storm be threatening, please consult your local National Weather Service office or your local government officials about what action you should be taking to protect life and property.
