NYC Spring Returns After Gloomy Day Today

NYC Spring Returns After Gloomy Day Today

04/13/24 10:16am ET

Good morning everyone. We continue to see the Northeast region socked-in with clouds, and a new storm slamming into the West Coast. Yet for a far stretch in between, we have nothing but sunshine and fairly nice weather overall. That’s a big stretch of land considering the active pattern going on, but things will change again come late Monday.

Today we have gloom and wind in the Northeast as low pressure slowly drifts into deeper parts of Canada. Spokes of energy around it, continue to touch off scattered showers from Maine back to Pennsylvania. Things will begin to settle down and taper off tomorrow, for a really nice 3 day stretch in the Tri-State area. Monday and Tuesday look like very mild ones, before rain begins to return on Wednesday.

We continue to watch heavy rain and heavy snows move into California and eventually into the Rockies. That system will emerge from the mountain ranges on Monday, increasing the risk for severe weather Monday night into Wednesday from west to east; starting with Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansa, and maybe even parts of Wyoming.

Things will start off small-scale, then a formidable line should form by Tuesday afternoon. With it, the risk of tornadoes, large hail, torrential rain, and frequent lighting will be on the menu for the Midwest, Central States, and Gulf States. Stay tuned and we will hone in on the exact timing and locations tomorrow and Monday.
