NYC Storms Arrive Early Today Flooding Threat
Good morning everyone. Storms are on the move already and the initial line hasn’t broken up. This equates to an earlier arrival time and a shift in terms of threats. The good news is that today is the last day of our heatwave, and tomorrow is looking fairly comfortable and seasonably warm in nature.
SATELLITE
Clouds are increasing already as the searing heat and humidity continue. Look for low 90’s today with very juicy conditions, but we’re looking for storms between 12 and 4pm as opposed to late afternoon/early evening. This will do a couple of things. First and foremost, while severe storms are still likely, the primary threat will be flooding due to the “angle of attack”. Our line of storms will be of the “draping” variety as they sink south/southeast, while individual cells move east. This could set us up for some “training” of cells, where the same area gets multiple cells and prolonged torrential rain.
Be aware of your surroundings and avoid areas that are prone to flooding. Do not try to navigate standing or fast moving water with your vehicles.
WEATHER RADAR
After today, things calm down a bit with a beautiful day tomorrow. Expect sunshine, mid 80’s, and lower humidity.
It only lasts a day though as upper 80’s return and humidity begins to creep up again for Wednesday.
The rest of the week is looking very warm, with upper 80’s to near 90 and humid conditions. Each day has the slight chance of a shower or storm aside from tomorrow.
