NYC SUMMERY FOUR DAY BLOCK
NYC SUMMERY FOUR DAY BLOCK – Good morning everyone! Summer weather is setting up for a decent stay, giving us a great NYC holiday weekend and record highs possible on Monday.
Sunny skies and light westerlies will be on the menu for today. If you’re a boater in the metro area, this is the day to get out and enjoy the ocean if your boat is seaworthy and you have the legs for it. Look for highs in the mid 80’s for most of the area, slightly cooler at the beaches. 1-2ft seas will give you the best opportunity to hit the local reefs and inshore wrecks for some good bottom fishing.
For tomorrow, we turn up the dial for a hot Father’s Day. Areas away from the immediate shore will see temps near 90, possibly breaking 90 in the notoriously hotter spots. Those looking to escape the heat  should come out to Long Island, especially out on the east end where we could see 10+ degrees cooler.
Monday will be the hottest day of the stretch, with the 3 H’s in full effect (Hazy, Hot, Humid). The record high of 91 set back in 1962 will most likely be broken, with highs 95-100 expected away from the immediate shore. We could also see some scattered heavy afternoon storms that’ll be fueled by the heat, but not everyone will see the action and most of it will be concentrated north and west of the NYC area.
Tuesday will be the same, but with higher dew points and more saturated air, it’ll be hard to go as high as Monday temp-wise. We’ll still see temps near 90, and a better shot at some showers and storms at any given point of the day as a cooler airmass approaches for Wednesday.
For the rest of next week, we’ll get a little reprieve from the heat with mid 70’s to near 80 and breezy for Wednesday; but warmth returns late week with mid to upper 80’s likely Thursday onward. However, even in the 80’s, Thursday and Friday look comfortable with relatively low humidity compared to what we’ll have already experienced Monday and Tuesday.
Next weekend for the time being looks like a split, with Saturday being the most comfortable of the 2 days, then possibly a return of 90’s for next Sunday and Monday.
