NYC Swath Of Heavy Rain Approaching Then Dry Week Ahead
Good morning everyone. Rain is headed our way and we could get into some decent intensity as low pressure goes just to our west our over the NYC Metro Area. Meanwhile, we have a dry 6-7 stretch once everything passes.
SATELLITE
Expect rain, heavy at times beginning over the course of the next few hours. If you hear a rumble of thunder out there, don’t be surprised either as low pressure intensifies. Localized flooding is possible in poor drainage areas. Highs today will be in the mid to upper 40’s.
REGIONAL RADAR
Tomorrow we clear out and introduce a stiff WNW flow. Highs will be in the mid 40’s, but expect windchills in the 20’s and 30’s.
LOCAL RADAR NEW YORK CITY
The forecast is easy for the entire week until our next system arrives in whatever form that’ll be. On Monday, we’ll continue that stiff WNW flow with mid 40’s, then dial back the wind. Average highs this time of year are in the upper 30’s and we’ll be close. Look for low 40’s the entire week with varying amount of sunshine and dry conditions.
LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA
In the long range, we continue to take this 1 system at a time and not buy into the “major blizzard” depicted by models every 9-10 days out on a long range outlook. Not only is it unrealistic, it’s bad forecasting for anyone to use these models as gospel.
Let’s take it one step at a time and so far I see nothing impressive in the immediate forecast. We are not in a friendly snow pattern for our area, but its not entirely unfriendly either. We’ve entered a period with a lot of coastal or near-coastal activity, and one system placed “just right’, will have enough cold air to work with to give the Northeast a good blast.
For snow lovers, the time to panic will be if we get through this pattern with nothing or hardly anything.
