NYC Temps Launch Fail Today Glorious Day Tomorrow

NYC Temps Launch Fail Today Glorious Day Tomorrow

Good morning everyone. We had another crazy evening yesterday, where everyone got in on the action this time with heavy rain and thunder throughout the listening area. Unfortunately for today, we erase the blackboard and start over again with a new forecast, which won’t be very nice overall. The good news is, we break out of the funk tomorrow and your eyes will hurt from all of the awesomeness that is sunshine.

We’ll have more clouds than sun today with the front never making it through the area, so you can kiss the 80’s goodbye as we wallow in the upper 60’s to low 70’s in spots. Yet again, we’ll get another round of showers and storms through the area in the afternoon/evening. I think we put a cap on the severe weather potential today, but we could still get some heavy rain, localized flooding, and loud rumbles.

Areas of PA and Central/Southern NJ have a slight risk of severe weather again, so we’ll keep an eye on the radar for them, and also make sure nothing sneaks our way. Overall, the marine layer is strong in our area today, and you’ll feel it just like yesterday. However, yesterday’s storms held together aside from the tornados and hail; today it’ll be a little bit more tame in most spots because there’s less energy to work with.

Tomorrow, everything is gone. That system which hung back, allowing the ridge down south to send waves of energy our way, clears the atmosphere like a giant plow and gives us a wonderful day. Expect full sunshine, a steady northwesterly flow, and highs a comfortable and dry upper 70’s to low 80’s.

For Saturday, we repeat with the sunshine and upper 70’s to low 80’s, but we’ll be a touch cooler at the shore as the wind profile changes a bit. This is in response to a system swooping down from the upper Midwest/Great lakes region that’ll affect us on Sunday.

I don’t think we get drenched all day on Sunday, but we could have a round of scattered showers late overnight on Saturday into early Sunday morning. I think we catch a break with sun and clouds for a while with 75-80 degree temps, then another round of showers move in. It looks like most of the energy goes to our north, and the timing of showers and thundershowers looks to be in the late afternoon for the moment.

The good news is Sunday’s system keeps moving and we get it out of here precip-wise. Low Pressure may stick around in Canada a bit, but that’ll most likely help high pressure dig in deep and establish itself for a couple of days. That’ll mean decreasing clouds for Monday, comfortable and seasonal with mid 70’s, then another comfortable day Tuesday before warmer air tries to re-establish itself on Wednesday.

The bad news it our high pressure will set up shop again in the Southeast and give them another early season pizza oven. If so, we could reset an unsettled pattern again for us, with wild swings between warm and humid, dry and seasonal, and cool and cloudy. Somewhere in the middle, strong thunderstorms will set up again and move over the same spots.

Stay tuned and we’ll pinpoint it all. Long range outlooks don’t work in a pattern like this, so we break it down as we go along. The one thing I can tell you, is that we’re mostly seasonal if you average the days out, and no heatwaves are expected in the immediate future.
