NYC Unseasonably Mild/Warm Then Unseasonably Chilly

NYC Unseasonably Mild/Warm Then Unseasonably Chilly

Good morning everyone. We have one more day of cool air, then we begin to modify tomorrow and slowly graduate from seasonable, to mild, to very mild, and possibly warm. It’ll come at a price though as we are closely watching the models and a system that’ll swing through at or just after Halloween. Regardless of the timing, all signs point to a quick shot of chilly days and cold nights. We could also see some of our first snows in the Northeast, but not for the NYC area and would be well-inland if it happened.

Check out the latest below on our mild to warm stretch…

For today, we have full sunshine and diminishing winds. Highs will be near 60 at best for a cool day. Lows overnight should dip into the mid 40’s, with some low 40’s experienced on parts of Long Island, and some upper 30’s N&W of the NYC area.

Temps modify tomorrow with more sunshine, light winds, and highs in the mid 60’s.

WEATHER RADAR

Our mild air begins its trek on Wednesday, with sunshine and highs near 70. Thursday goes even milder, with highs in the low to mid 70’s.

Friday we begin to watch for some possible warm readings, with sun & clouds and highs in the mid to upper 70’s. If the full sunshine stays a bit longer and the wind profile remains friendly, we could see a few 80 degree hits, especially just west of NYC.

Saturday remains looking very mild to warm, with increasing clouds and highs 75-80. Sunday remains questionable as far as the timing of our system, but we could eek out another mild day. We could also see some showers depending on where our front is at that point.

We’ll also watch closely for that push of unseasonably chilly air and when it reaches us. The frontal boundary should have a line of gusty showers with it, which may occur on or near Halloween. Right now the margin of error remains 1-2 days on this.
