NYC Warmest Day Through Mid April Will Be In March
Good morning everyone. Nobody likes a headline like this, but I have to call it as I see it; and the pattern developing is going to make it hard for April to get out of its own way. It’s not that the weather is going to be outright bad, we actually look dry till Thursday or Friday. It’s that out systems are going to get hung up, either over us or near us, spinning back prolonged days of clouds and/or cool weather.
SATELLITE
Today is a recovery day from yesterday’s cold. We won’t be perfect temp-wise, but low 50’s is better than low 40’s, so I’ll take it. Tomorrow, clouds enter the picture and our recovery is as grand, but we can still reach 60 in parts of the area if we get enough sun through those clouds.
We’ll be in and out of the clouds the entire week as low pressure gets hung up for a bit in the maritime. Monday might be sunnier than Tuesday, but then again it might not. We have to take each day one at a time. As of now, it looks like Monday might be sunnier than tomorrow with some low 60’s. I’m going to play it conservative for now and keep the low 60’s in the area through Wednesday, with variable clouds and a stiff NNW flow.
First chance of rain is Thursday and Friday with our next system approaching. We’ll be in the “warm” sector of this system, so expect low to mid 60’s even with clouds and rain. Low pressure will once again get hung up and meander north of us. However, there might be just enough space in between spokes of energy to eek out a decent weekend with dry westerlies, sun & clouds, and mid 60’s.
In the big scheme of things, there will be enough sunshine and enough seasonably cool/seasonable days to keep things blooming, but a taste of 75-80 degree weather like we had in late March is nowhere to be found for at least the next 2 weeks or so.
