NYC Washout Arrives

Good morning everyone. Things are unfolding exactly as expected, with rain holding off yesterday for Labor Day, and now rain spreading over the area. Our wave of low pressure has formed, and it’ll drift NE, then E, then SE somewhere south of Long Island. This will help keep rain in the area all day, then showery conditions tomorrow & very damp/cool.

The forecast is simple. Rain all day with varying intensity, and some embedded rumbles of thunder. Flooding will be a concern, especially in the flood prone areas of LI and NYC. Highs today will be a humid low 70’s.

We keep the clouds and showery conditions around tomorrow with more low 70’s, but those low 70’s will feel a little bit more raw as low pressure sinks to our south.

WEATHER RADAR

The sun returns of Thursday with fantastic conditions all the way through Sunday. We’ll have to recover a bit, so expect 75-80 degrees Thursday, near 80 Friday, then low 80’s Saturday; possible mid 80’s Sunday.

However, a reinforcing shot of cool air will knock us back to the near 80 mark to start next week w/ more rain possible. I don’t think we’re done with the very warm or possibly even hot weather yet, but overall we are on a downward trend with upper 70’s to low 80’s being more commonplace.

The tropics remain quiet for our area, and we will continue to watch old fronts in the Gulf and SE for any quick development.
