NYC WEEKEND WEATHER FLIP FLOPS WARM AIR ON SCHEDULE
NYC WEEKEND WEATHER FLIP FLOPS WARM AIR ON SCHEDULE – Good morning everyone. Sometimes, especially during spring, weather systems grind to a halt and/or get hung up here in the Northeast. This weekend is a good example of that as today was supposed to be the nicer of the two days and tomorrow was going to be cloudy with rain late. Unfortunately, yesterday’s system is taking it’s sweet time leaving the NYC area and we will have cloudy, cool, and rainy conditions here during the day; highs won’t reach 60 and we’ll be in the mid to upper 50’s today.
Tomorrow, sun breaks out and we’ll break into the low to mid 60’s while we await the next system to arrive. This is all part of a transition period into warmer air for mid-week, so the gloom won’t last. That being said, we’ll have two cloudy and rainy days for Monday and Tuesday with highs in the upper 50’s to near 60 both days. We’re not talking big rainouts, but periods of steady rain will come and go from late Monday morning through late Tuesday night.
After that, warm air pushes into the NYC area to give us another taste of mid-spring. Wednesday, we’re looking at decreasing clouds and highs 65-70, slightly cooler at the coast. Warmer and drier air moves in for Thursday and Friday, highs 70-75 both days, cooler at the coast, and a few lollipop warmer temps in the notoriously warmer areas.
In the long range, we’ll have to wait and see if a back door cold front plays games with the Northeast area for the weekend. However, the potential is there for Thursday and Friday’s warm air to last for several days into the first week of May before things temporarily return to near – normal temps.
