NYC WIND SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS COLD
NYC WIND SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS COLD – Good morning everyone! High wind warnings are in effect as cold air begins to move in and temps plummet through the 40’s. Wind will calm down tonight with clear skies, making way for a very cold March night with lows in the mid to upper 20’s. Winds will increase once again tomorrow, associated with a reinforcing shot of cold are, and an upper air disturbance quickly moving through. Highs will only reach around 40 tomorrow, with a chance of some quick moving, scattered snow showers; little to no accumulation is expected. That reinforcing shot of cold air will give us a bitterly cold March night, with lows 15-20 and barely breaking 30 on Saturday, even with a stronger March sun.
Cold air will modify somewhat on Sunday, with sun and clouds and highs near 40. After that, we play the warm front game again starting early next week. On Monday, clouds will increase with the approach of a warm front, highs in the mid 50’s. Clouds will keep temperatures down on Tuesday even though warm air will have moved in. If we get any extra sun, we may see temps near 70 again, but with clouds expected, we won’t get much past 60 and there will be a slight chance of showers. The sun returns for Wednesday, with breezy conditions and highs in the mid 50’s.
In the long range, active weather will continue, with several brief shots of mild air associated with being in the warm sector of these systems marching across the Nation, then brief periods of cold air behind them. We continue to have to watch any energy left behind these systems as cold air moves in, but statistically, the clock is ticking on the chances of any moderate to major snow and slowly transitioning into a springtime pattern looking further down the road.
