NYC Windy Mild Rainy Wednesday

NYC Windy Mild Rainy Wednesday

2/27/24 10:53am ET

Good morning everyone. We continue to watch the dynamics coming together for a narrow line of severe weather that’ll stretch from the Gulf States into the Great Lake States; and possibly into lower parts of the Northeast. This is all thanks to low pressure coming out of the Rockies that’ll race ENE into the Great Lakes and into Canada.

Again, this is a thin line of storms, especially from Kentucky on south, so whatever happens will be brief, but possibly severe. As the energy moves Northeast, the chance for severe weather diminishes as we go into the higher latitudes near the East Coast, but we could see a gust front embedded within the heavier showers. The timeline continues to be tonight through tomorrow evening from west to east.

This will be enough to relocate light furniture and garbage canes, so you should secure items that are typically on porches, backyards, and the sides of your house. Other than that, we have a brief shot of cold air behind this system, but things quickly modify on Friday.

Stay tuned and listen to your local alerts that could pop up quickly tonight and tomorrow. Here is your local NYC Metro forecast –

Look for morning clouds today, then some brief blue breaks before clouds increase again. We’ll have the chance of some showers late afternoon onward into tonight. It’ll be a mild one after a slow start, with highs 55-60.

Expect cloudy, windy, and very mild conditions tomorrow with highs in the near 60/low 60 range. Winds may gust 30-40mph in spots, especially along the immediate south-facing shores and areas that do wind up seeing that gust front. We’ll have on and off rain, heavy at times, with a chance of a rumble or two.

WEATHER RADAR

Clouds break up Thursday morning, replaced with a stiff NW breeze and a cold day overall. Look for highs in the 35-40 range. We modify on Friday, with more sunshine and highs 45-50.
