PARTIAL CLEARING NYC – The last of the rain has moved to the east of the NYC area and partial clearing will begin. Winds will begin to pick up out of the west at 15-20mph and we may see a few peeks of sun later in the afternoon, highs in the upper 40’s to near 50. Tonight will be breezy and cool, with lows in the low to mid 30’s, but wind chills down into the low 20’s, so make sure you bundle up if venturing out tonight. On Tuesday, the cold air slowly begins to work it’s way back in, with highs in low 40’s. There’s a slight chance of a few rain or snow showers Tuesday night as a weak disturbances passes by, lows in the mid 30’s again. An arctic front will begin to enter the picture on Wednesday and we continue to watch if a wave will form along the front as it passes by. Highs will only reach 40 on Wednesday even with sunny skies.
As of now, it looks like we will be on the northern fringe of any moisture associated with this wave that may develop. This will give us a slight chance of some very light snow for Thursday but more-so on Thursday night. I’m thinking a dusting of snow at worst if anything at all. Thursday will be very cold, with highs only reaching the mid to upper 20’s and lows in the low teens. Friday will pretty much be a carbon copy of Thursday, but we keep an eye on our next system approaching as it may give us a threat at some snow, sleet, and rain Friday night and into next weekend.
Christmas weekend continues to trend warm according to models, but it will be at the cost of another rainy system. We will keep a close eye on it as it is too far out and models have been inconsistent.
