Perfect Weekend Ahead For NYC

Perfect Weekend Ahead For NYC

05/29/24 9:28am ET

Good morning everyone. We’ve had a few technical difficulties the last few days, but we’re back and ready to hit the ground running for the weekend. It looks like perfection at that for the New York City area as very dry and very seasonable temperatures settle in after some disturbed weather later today, overnight, and tomorrow. We’re not expecting any washouts, but we could see some showers and storms in between blue patches and moonlight.

We turn our attention back to the Upper Midwest as more severe weather could erupt later this evening or tonight with more energy emerging from the western mountain ranges. From North Dakota down into Wyoming, Colorado, Nebraska, and Kansas, we’ll be watching closely for the prospect of small clusters of severe thunderstorms. Not everyone will see these storms due to their scattered nature, but we could see very large hail, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and isolated tornadoes.

We’ll watch for that energy to continue slowly to the east, then erupt again in the Midwest, where parts of Iowa, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Kansas could take part in the action. This time, we’re expecting larger and more concentrated lines moving through. This also means that severe weather will be much more widespread tomorrow evening compared to today.

Stay tuned to your local agencies for the latest watches and warnings. Here is your local NYC Metro forecast –
