RAINY NYC DAY AHEAD – Good evening New York City! A large and complex storm system has started making it’s way towards us, in bits and pieces that is. Clouds continue to increase tonight, as a wave of low pressure ahead of a slow moving warm/cold front combo hang back in the Mississippi Valley. Round 1 starts off tomorrow morning, with showers and patchy fog in between the steadier rain drops. Winds will increase out of the south and may gust upwards of 30mph, especially at the immediate shore. As the core of the energy transits the area, a few rumbles of thunder in the afternoon is not out of the question. Highs will be in the low 60’s. Wednesday will be a repeat performance with another wave heading up into the area and the eventual passing of the frontal system late Wednesday night/early Thursday morning, highs in the upper 50’s. Between tomorrow and Wednesday, the area could see 1-3 inches of rain, with localized flooding in poor drainage areas in times of heavy rain.
It seems as if things are moving slightly faster, so rain into late Thursday morning is not likely, and we should see sunny skies for most of the day Thursday, highs in the upper 50’s to near 60.
Low pressure hangs back in the upper midwest as waves of energy ahead of the front move into the northeast, giving us back to back rainy days for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Rain is starting to enter the northeast radar, most of what you see in eastern PA and NJ is not hitting the ground.
The local radar is quiet for now, but will be busy come morning. We may even see some embedded thunderstorms in the afternoon.
