Scattered NYC Flurries Today Interesting Late Month

Good morning everyone. We have ourselves a relatively cold day today for this time of month, and some upper level energy is bringing clouds with scattered flurries. In the summer, I predicted our first measurable snowfall would be December 10th. While I was close to the date, it’s not measurable, so I lose regardless. Either way, we are starting to get into a more active pattern, and late month may be interesting.

Clouds are with us this morning, and we may see a few breaks late. Expect highs in the upper 30’s to near 40, with breezy conditions and scattered flurries here and there.

We’ll get another round of scattered flurries and sprinkles tomorrow ahead of warmer air heading heading in for Thursday. Look for highs in the low 40’s tomorrow.

The sun returns for Thursday, and we should have a really comfortable day with highs near 50.

Near 50 temps continue to finish the week, then clouds increase on Saturday ahead of our next system. Highs Saturday will be in the low 50’s and we’ll have the chance of a few scattered showers late in the day.

Sunday is a tossup right now, and we’ll have to see what kind of energy this system has left. As of now, I’m going to go for 55-60 under mostly cloudy skies, breezy conditions, and the chance of a few showers. We’ll keep an eye on everything as the rain may be more widespread and heavier if any type of wave forms along the front.

As we head into mid to late month, we get more active and the systems may become more vigorous. What’s catching my eye at this moment is late month, where our Pacific systems may start coming into central California as oppose to the Pac NW. Typically, our systems exit the East Coast similar to where they enter the West Coast. If this pattern change happens, it may point to low pressure going just south of us, allowing colder air into these systems. That would equate to a better chance of snow in or very close to our area.
