Spring-Like Pattern Emerges From Midwest to East Coast
2/29/24 9:20am ET
Good morning everyone. Behind our sharp cold front we have some cold air paying a one-day visit in the Central States and East Coast. We begin to slowly crawl out of it tomorrow, but by then we are already watching our next system for Saturday. We’re not expecting anything major along the Gulf or East Coast, however, a very spring-like and very rainy pattern is emerging overall.
While things aren’t looking good for some late=season snow in the Northeast, I do not believe we’re done with some cold air. That being said, our system track takes almost every system into the Great Lakes region; giving the Midwest, Southeast, and East Coast some mild to warm hits of air with each pass. It also increases the risk for severe weather from Texas and the Gulf States, into the Southeast, and also the South-Central states.
We’ll be watching closely for that threat reemerging some time on or after Tuesday as strong low pressure exists the Rockies and races into the Great Lakes; trailing a sharp cold front with it. It is a familiar story, with once-again an increased risk of large hail, damaging winds, frequent lightning, and tornados.
This looks to be a repeating pattern with similar systems expected over the next 2 weeks. Here is your local NYC Metro forecast –
SATELLITE
Look for morning clouds today, then a mix of sun and clouds this afternoon. It’ll be a blustery and cold one, with highs 35-40. Overnight we dip into the mid to upper 20’s.
Temps modify a bit tomorrow as winds calm down and full sunshine pays a visit. Highs should be in the mid 40’s, then increasing clouds overnight ahead of Saturday’s system.
WEATHER RADAR
Your weekend looks like a split, with cloudy and showery conditions on Saturday. It’ll be milder, but feel raw due to the breeze and the rain. Highs in the upper 40’s to near 50.
Clouds stick around on Sunday, but it’ll be milder with some blue patches. Highs 55-60.
The workweek starts off cloudy and mild on Monday with more 55-60 degree temps, then rain returns late on Tuesday and into Wednesday. There is no snow on the immediate horizon and there doesn’t seem to be any late season surprises over the next 2 weeks.
