Surprise NYC Mild & Warmth Today and Tomorrow
05/1/24 9:37am ET
Good morning everyone. Once in a while in the NYC area during spring, you get these surprise little “bonus” days that pop up when sunshine and wind suddenly cooperate at the last minute. This will be one of those moments, before very cool conditions and gloom hits us this weekend.
Meanwhile, another wild night in the Midwest with severe weather, gives way to strong/heavy thunderstorms this morning in central Oklahoma and Kansas. As of this moment, have no severe weather watches or warnings in the region; but we do have flash flood watches in parts of Texas and Louisiana in anticipation of another round of heavy thunderstorms later today and tonight.
We will also watch for the return of severe thunderstorms and tornadic activity this afternoon into tonight in parts of Kansas, Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Texas from west to east as the day wears on. Central Texas could get in on the action with this one, as we are expecting some very big storms capable of large hail, damaging winds, frequent lightning, torrential rain, and strong tornadoes.
The timeline on this round looks to be between 12-2pm today, where we start off small; then everything begins to organize around evening and overnight, before chugging east all the way through 5-7pm tomorrow through Arkansas. Please stay tuned to your local agencies, and be prepared to take action in order to protect property and life.
Here’s your local NYC Metro forecast –
SATELLITE
Expect a morning mix of clouds and sun, then surprisingly mild today with highs in the low to mid 70’s. A mild forecast tomorrow, is replaced with a warm one under a mix of sun & clouds again. Highs should be in the 80-85 realm.
WEATHER RADAR
Things drop off on Friday with another mix of sun & clouds. Highs in the mid to upper 60’s. Your weekend isn’t looking so great as raw air pays a visit. Expect mostly cloudy skies on Saturday with a scattered shower, highs in the near 60 range. On Sunday, look for showery conditions and highs might not make it out of the 50’s.
Things relax as far as the gloom and raw temps come Monday and Tuesday, with sunshine and 70-75 degree weather.
