UNSEASONABLY WARM NYC THURSDAY
UNSEASONABLY WARM NYC THURSDAY
UNSEASONABLY WARM NYC THURSDAY – Good morning everyone! Aside from fog and cool ocean air, everything has fallen into place to make for an unseasonably warm Thursday in late February for the NYC area. Low clouds and fog will eventually lift out of the area and periods of sunshine will give us a 60-65 degree day. The record today is 70 degrees in Central Park, so it’s going to be a tough go to break it. However, if an extra hour or two of sunshine breaks out, we could get very close. Expect the same story throughout much of the area, with low to mid 60’s everywhere rise from the immediate shore, where temps will have a hard time getting out of the 50’s due to a breeze off of the cool, late winter ocean. Again though, any extra sunshine that may occur, will give the coast a boost and maybe crack 60 degrees.
Clouds move back in tonight as that maritime airmass fights back with cooler temps, drizzle, fog, and maybe even a few light showers. Clouds will remain with us all day tomorrow with similar conditions. A few peaks of sun in the afternoon may help us get to the low 60’s in most of the NYC area. As far as Saturday is concerned, I still don’t see a great chance for thunderstorms in the area, as the cool ocean air will hinder development or survival of anything that forms to our west: plus, most of the energy will be going to our north. Expect scattered light showers, drizzle, and fog once again for Saturday, highs around 60; then a better chance of some steadier rain Saturday night as the cold front approaches and temps will plummet into the mid to upper 30’s overnight.
Things cool off for Sunday and Monday, with sunny skies and highs in the mid 40’s as we await several systems to approach us over the course of the next 7-10 days.

UNSEASONABLY WARM NYC THURSDAY – Several pieces of what’s left of a stretched out system, move towards the east coast, pumping intermittently warm air in our direction. The battle will be over our area, but areas inland will see record breaking temps.
Northeast Radar
Radar is quiet and will remain so even though drizzle and light showers may break out tomorrow. It’ll be hard to pick up as it will be very light in nature.
