Very Hot NYC As Heatwave Continues With A Chance Of PM Storms

Good morning everyone. We’ll be stuck in the very hot realm today with a “bonus” day expected tomorrow. However, it’ll be slightly drier. Not sure how much it’ll help with mid 90’s, but it’ll be a touch more comfortable compared to today. Upper 80’s to low 90’s continue past that, and we continue to watch the tropics.

We’ll have a sunny start today, then clouds will be on the increase with an approaching cold front. Right now the radar looks busy, but it might have a hard time staying together as it nears the coast. Keep an eye to the sky and the radar today, and we’ll do the same to point out the trouble spots as they arise. Any storms that do develop may contain frequent lightning, damaging winds, hail, torrential rain, and an isolated tornado. Highs today 95-100 in most spots.

Tomorrow we go for mid to upper 90’s again, but the frontal passage will dial back the humidity a notch. Look for a sunny, very hot, a relatively drier day, with no storms to mention.

On Thursday through Friday, we “sink” back down into the upper 80’s to low 90’s under mostly sunny to partly sunny skies.

Your weekend continues to looks like a very warm to hot & a humid one. Humidity will begin to increase on Saturday, with sunny skies and highs in the upper 80’s to low 90’s. Some extra clouds will arrive on Sunday as that moisture increases even more, and we’ll have a very humid day with a slight chance of storms. Highs in the upper 80’s to near 90.

LOCAL RADAR PHILADELPHIA

In the long range, we’re continuing to watch the tropics as disturbed weather is on the increase. However as of now, we do not have any named storms to mention. There’s one east of the Leeward’s that may become a tropical storm, but nothing going on yet.

The heat will be with us for the next 2-3 weeks folks, and I’m continuing to watch for the potential of a 3rd heatwave later in the first week of August, into the 2nd week.

MANY THANKS TO TROPICAL TIDBITS FOR THE USE OF MAPS
