WEAK COASTAL SYSTEM BRINGS RAINY RAW NYC SATURDAY

Good morning everyone. Clouds will be on the move into the area again today with yet another system for late overnight tonight into tomorrow for the NYC area. Meanwhile, there’s still no large-scale snowmakers in sight and no below-average cold air available till mid-month.

For today, an icy veil of clouds moves back in after some sunshine. WSW winds will help “boost” us into the the 45-50 realm. Overnight, rain begins to move in between 8pm-12am and we’ll slowly shift those winds around towards the Northeast before sunrise.

If we had cold enough air in place, this could’ve been a touch of snow with a somewhat friendly path in terms of where our low pressure is going. However, it is very weak and unable to pull any cold air down from Canada, so look for a rainy and raw day tomorrow all day; highs 40-45.

Between tonight and tomorrow, we could see 1-11/2″ of rain, so minor flooding could be an issue in the notorious spots due to oversaturated ground.

Sunday continues to look sunny and nice, but breezy. Expect highs in the mid 40’s and a steady NW wind.

Colder and more seasonal air works its way back in for Monday, which again will be timed perfectly for our next system highs in the mid to upper 30’s. Look for the chance of some wet snow or rain/snow mix overnight Monday, but quickly turning to all rain before sunrise Tuesday as our snow-hostile system paths continue onward.

Near-seasonal temps return for most of the week, then we keep an eye on our next system for some time during next weekend/late next weekend. Bitter cold air continues to look elusive until an opportunity some time mid-month. That being said, it’s questionable how long it lasts and cold air doesn’t guarantee a snowstorm.
