Weather Traffic Jam Wrecks Warm Chances Till Weekend

Good morning everyone. Well, the traffic jam we needed to break the pattern a few weeks ago, is here now, and of course its timing is horrible. We were about to embark on a taste of true spring, then a subtropical low formed (newly named TS Arthur), that’ll logjam the entire Northeast in a cool, mostly cloudy, and drizzly pattern, while everyone else enjoys mild to warm conditions.

Tropical Storm Arthur is off the coast of Florida and will push northward. Highs pressure will build into our area and “protect” us from that system, which is not a huge deal, but making headlines nonetheless because it is our first named storm. Meanwhile, a broad area of low pressure will approach from the west, and the 3 features will combine to make for a cool and meh 5 days.

As that high digs in, it’ll help push our tropical/subtropical system slowly out to sea, but create a cut-off feature in which that low out west will make it almost to the coast, and stall out for days. Depending on how strong the high is, will dictate how much the sun-to-cloud ratio will be, and when we see a few showers. Don’t expect any rainouts, but a nice week it won’t be.

As of now, we’ll go with sun & clouds today and seasonably cool. Highs today in the upper 60’s. Upper 60’s return tomorrow, but that east wind builds and it’ll feel cooler. As that easterly wind builds and persists, expect coastal flood issues at high tide. This is typical this time of year when we get these cut-off lows and a prolonged, easterly component.

Tuesday and Wednesday are looking like the coolest days of the week so far, as we barely hit 60 with more clouds than sun, and a raw easterly wind.

Thursday we climb out f the basement and back into the mid to upper 60’s, but we may have a few showers around.

As that low begins to break down, things will relax and temps will be allowed to trek towards where we were supposed to be during this period. I think we break 70 on Friday, but clouds stick around and humidity creeps up.

The same goes for the weekend and I think we begin to relax things even more, but clouds continue to stick around. Expect a humid 75-80 both Saturday and Sunday with the slight chance of a few sprinkles.
